Power Of The Purse Raises $45,000

We’re thrilled to announce that United Way was able to raise more than $45,000 during our two Power of the Purse events this spring! Power of the Purse is our annual designer purse raffle led by Women United and sponsored by Steel Dynamics.
More than 300 women came together to support our programs and community initiatives in Leesburg and Columbia City this year. In addition, more than 35 designer purses were donated to be in the purse raffle.
Volunteers assembled prize packages including the purses and other accessories with the goal of raffling them off to financially support initiatives including Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, Launchpad, and Camp Hope.
“It is a blessing to be united with such an amazing group of women who are dedicated to helping families with children,” said Juli Eckel, Chair of Women United. “This shows the strength we have as women to change lives and impact our communities.”

Power of the Purse is part of the Women United Series hosted by United Way. These events are designed to grow women’s philanthropy while improving the lives of local families with young children in Whitley and Kosciusko counties.
The 2023 event series is sponsored by Bowen Health Clinic.
